WHAT IS TRADE LICENSE?
A trade license is a document/certificate that gives the permission to the applicant to commence a particular trade or business in a particular area/location. To safeguard the public at large against the health hazard and nuisance which a trader / business may cause. Trade license is a method to regulate the trade and to ensure compliance with rule and safety guidelines issued by government. This license creates a harmony in the society that every business is following relevant rules, guidelines and obeying the safety measures.
An application must be made before the commencement of the activity. However, some state governments allow 15 days to 3 month time to seek a trade license. License once issued requires periodical renewal on annual basis. Application for renewal must be filed at least 30 days before expiry of license.
Trade License(s) are issued by the authorized department of a municipal corporation in consultation with other specialized departments like fire brigade, health, engineering department having jurisdiction over the business.

Industries license:
Small, Medium and Large scale manufacturing factories
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- The person must be above the age of 18 years.
- A person must not have any criminal records
- The business must be eligible for executing legal work
REGISTRATION PROCESS
STEP 1: PREPARATION OF APPLICATION

Submit application in the prescribed form to the concerned authority i.e. ( Municipal Corporation) along with other documents.
STEP 3: TIME PERIOD

RENEWAL OF TRADE LICENSE:
Trade licenses in India are renewed in between January 1st to March 31st. The validity of a license issued by the municipal authority is for a period of one year and required to be renewed every year.
The application for renewal of the license is to be made within 30 days from the date of its expiry.
